Get ready for a fine time at fascapple glass
Here’s important information that helps ensure everyone has a great time at fascapple glass. Let us know if you have any questions.
Just In Case
Please provide your phone number so we can reach you in short order if need be.
Getting Started
Workshop: Arrive 10 minutes early so we can get you checked in.
Location: 7865-56 Street SE, Unit 104 - east of Big Rock Brewery.
Parking: Free, in front of the studio.
Waiver: To participate in the workshop, please complete this waiver and return it by email or bring it along with you.
Health and Safety: If you have a cold sore in or around your mouth, for everyone’s health and safety, we’ll be happy to help you reschedule. Please call or email us before coming to the studio. Given the nature of teaching glassblowing, if you arrive with a cold sore, unfortunately, we will need to excuse you from the workshop.
Likewise, if you are feeling unwell or experiencing symptoms such as a runny nose, sore throat, or cough, do get in touch before coming to the studio. We will work with you to determine the best option for everyone involved. Firsthand experience says it is not fun blowing glass with plugged ears and/or nose.
Please let us know as soon as possible if you are unable to attend.
Ensure everyone attending completes the above waiver and return it by email or bring it with you.
Tips:
-
It's hot and dry in the studio, so drink lots of water before arriving. Bring water to drink throughout the workshop. We can replenish.
-
For safety and comfort, wear natural fabrics, such as a cotton T-shirt and pants or knee-length denim jeans or cargo shorts/pants. Cotton/synthetic blends are okay! Clothes made solely of flammable fabrics such as polyester or rayon (aka athletic leggings) are NOT allowed. Remember it is HOT, so best to wear layers on top.
-
Shoes must have closed toes and backs.
-
Tie back long hair and remove accessories such as rings, necklaces, and watches.
-
We supply safety glasses for people who don’t wear glasses. If you use contacts or eyeglasses, we recommend wearing the latter. The studio’s dry climate sometimes makes contacts less comfortable.
-
Lockers are available to store personal belongings, etc.
-
Heat affects everyone differently. If at any time you find it too hot, let us know. We will modify how your piece is created.
-
Groups of 1 to 4 people, please remember what you make. See why below.
What to Expect:
Walking in, you will see our gallery filled with pieces created by Hayden MacRae and our team. To begin the workshop, your instructor will walk through safety steps, introduce the equipment, and make a piece so you can see how it's done. Then it is time to get started.
Once a piece is made, it will need to anneal (cool down) and have some finishing work done. We will take care of that.
Your workshop piece will be ready for pick up between 7 to 10 business days. If you need the pieces sooner, please let us know now. We will do our best to accommodate, and rush finishing charges may apply. We kindly request:
-
You keep track of your creations, including the likeness, item, and colours, throughout the workshop, as we do not separate them by person. All of your group’s pieces will be packed in one box.
-
You designate one person to pick up your workshop’s pieces.
-
You enjoy the fun of unveiling your creations.
If you are an out-of-town guest and it will be over two weeks or more before you can return, here are options:
-
Arrange for friends or family to pick up your treasures.
-
Alternatively, we can arrange packing and shipping for you. There is a packing fee of $25 plus tax, and shipping fees will be charged according to the level of service you choose.
Thank you from all of us! If you’d like to see more about the studio, browse through other sections on our wesbsite or see our latest work at instagram@fascappleglass.com
